Abstract


The recent and the upcoming researches concentrates on the development of clean energy to the future generation. The depletion of fossil fuels has been increased drastically with the rise of population. The development of non-conventional sources of energy may leads to the clean energy development and reduction in fuel scarcity. India is almost abundant in all forms of non-conventional energy sources. But the disadvantage is the proper and continuous utilisation of those sources without any obstruction. Of all the non-conventional energy available, Solar energy to be considered as abundant energy source. The recent studies concentrate more on the storage and interrupted usage of solar energy. As a part of research, this work has been focused on the development of solar ponds for efficient storage of solar energy. The performance of the Phase Change Material (PCM) in the storage of solar energy using solar ponds has been studied in the present wok. The present study compares the variation in the temperature of the solar pond with PCM and without PCM for a day, weeks and month. The reasons behind the variation have been discussed along with the importance of PCM in storage. The results of the work concludes that the performance of the solar pond is high with the addition of PCM.
